We will contribute to reducing global waste and increased efficiencies. Little bits make a huge difference and collectively, we will make an impact for a healthier future.
We promise to:
- utilize meeting technology or teleconferencing when possible to reduce travel-related emissions and save transit time
- turn off lights and electronics when not using to conserve energy
- minimize the use of natural resources, including water consumption
- print only when necessary, use recycled paper and products, and share more electronically via secure transmission
- use PDF function to send and receive faxes
- recycle paper and use double-sided features on printers when possible
- lower heat temperature at night
- install energy efficient lighting and heating systems, and use EcoLogo or Energy Star appliances
- have plants to combat CO2
- compost and use bio-degradable products where possible
- say, "NO" to plastic: bags, cutlery, cups, straws. Every little bit makes a difference
- ride our bikes and walk when possible. Car-share or public transportation is encouraged.
- use re-usable bags and say "no" to packaging
- donate unused hardware and goods for 2nd life use
- waste less, re-use more
- continue volunteer efforts to contribute to our region's growth and economic prosperity. Organizations include: Manning Innovation Awards Atlantic Chapter, Junior Achievement, Business for the Arts, and KidSport.
- buy locally and use local services, when possible to support a sustainable and viable Nova Scotian economy. Fewer miles travelled means less energy consumed to deliver and jobs stay home.
